Boxing seems to be the flavour of the season in Bollywood. And actors seem rather keen on picking up the gloves as part of their training for a role.
Of course, Priyanka Chopra has been doing it to prepare for the biopic on pugilist Mary Kom. Recently, Sonakshi Sinha, too, did some training in boxing since her role in an upcoming Akshay Kumar-starrer is supposedly modelled on Laila Ali (boxer, and the legendary Muhammad Ali’s daughter).
The latest entrant in the ring is Ranbir Kapoor. It has been reported earlier that Ranbir has been training in Mixed Martial Arts for his upcoming Anurag Kashyap directorial.
Now, we’re told that he also trained in boxing to prepare for his role of a street fighter. An insider reveals, "A trainer from Kenya was flown down to work with Ranbir Kapoor. They worked together for roughly four months. He used to shoot in the day and train at night."
One of the challenges, apparently, was for the actor to maintain his lean physique in spite of the heavy physical training, so his appearance in the film remains consistent. For the same reason, Ranbir, it seems, also went on a strict diet. -
