Now that Fitoor’s fate is close to sealed, the truth can be told. Apparently, during its shooting, director Abhishek ‘Gattu’ Kapoor and his producers had “innumerable creative differences” over how the film should be shot and later, marketed. Says a source close to to Abhishek, “Gattu wanted to do a faithful adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations. He never wanted to make his film solely about the love story between Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy’s characters, Noor and Firdaus. In his screenplay, the dramatic conflict is between Tabu and Kat’s characters.” But the producers had a different plan, it seems.

Says the source, “The plot moved away from being about the conflict between the mother and daughter (played by Tabu and Katrina) and became a Kat-Adi love story.” Also, as it turns out, there were several arguments about the filming of the Pashmina track, which wasn’t part of the film. Gattu opposed the shooting and airing of such a song. But the producers went ahead and released a romantic music video for the song without the director’s approval. Whoa! Now that’s like one surprising revelation right?
